Dive Worldwide offers unique Galapagos options for 2010/11

While many tour operators are experiencing late bookings from those looking for bargains, places for Dive Worldwide’s unique trips to the Galapagos aboard the Sky Dancer boat in 2010 and 2011 are being snapped up; the vessel is one of few liveaboard boats that has a licence to visit the dive sites of Darwin and Wolf; the Holy Grail of SCUBA and considered the best dive sites on earth.

Dive Worldwide - Great White Shark Diving Weekend

Sardine Run Diving Adventure

If BBC TV’s Nature’s Great Events Sardine Run, narrated by Sir David Attenborough (screened tonight, Wednesday 4 March), has fired your imagination then why not plunge the warm waters of South Africa for yourself with Dive Worldwide to witness this extraordinary phenomenon first hand?

Each year, around June, one of the most amazing spectacles in the animal kingdom takes place off the KwaZulu Natal coastline. Millions of sardines migrate north, following cold winter currents toward the warm Indian Ocean, a gigantic smorgasbord attracting thousands of marine predators - dolphins, sharks, seals and game fish, even occasional Orcas and whales. The resultant feeding frenzy drives the shoals to the surface where they fall prey to dive bombing avian predators.

The Ha'apai group of islands is Tonga's best kept secret, with friendly people, an uncanny sense of timelessness, white sand beaches, balmy breezes and warm waters teeming with tropical fish. There are 60 small islands of which only 17 are inhabited. With virtually no tourism, these small islands with traditional fishing villages and fantastic beaches are truly enchanting. Between 5 and 6 days will be spent whale and dolphin-watching aboard the catamaran Physeter, accompanied by experienced naturalists and scientific researchers engaged in the Whale-Watch Azores Project (one of a worldwide network of WDCS’ vital cetacean conservation projects). Passengers will help the experts search for Sperm Whales, Bottlenose, Risso’s, Common, Spotted, and Striped Dolphins, together with rarer Rough-toothed Dolphins, Cuvier’s and Sowerby’s Beaked Whales, False Killer Whales, Humpbacks, Minkes, Fin and Sei Whales. The Physeter offers plenty of room for watching and photographing whales and dolphins thanks to its wide bow and three spacious deck areas. A further 2-3 days will be spent ashore enjoying land-based activities. Throughout the holiday, guests will be accommodated in an environmentally-friendly eco-lodge in Horta town, on the island of Faial.

Formed from volcanic limestone on which coral has been growing for centuries, the Caribbean island of Curaçao is a scuba diver’s paradise.
